WHEREAS, The Township of Lakewood is home to the youngest population in the state of New Jersey and are the youngest in the United States with over 17% of its residents being children under five (5) years old; and,
WHEREAS, The parents of these children present a significant percentage of Lakewood’s work force and student population and like most Americans, require affordable available child care; and,
WHEREAS, Child care is a key to upward mobility and economic growth for these families and will promote economic growth for the Township; and,
WHEREAS, Beth Medrash Govoha is a significant institution in Lakewood and an integral part of the community which has played a key role in developing social services and health care in the Township.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Committee of the Township of Lakewood, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, as follows:

Supports the efforts of Beth Medrash Govoha to increase childcare opportunities, especially for those low income families who are eligible for childcare block grants vouchers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Township Committee supports the application of Beth Medrash Govoha seeking federal funding in the fiscal year of 2022 appropriation process to support this important project.
